Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival 2022 | Antalya Film Forum

The Antalya Film Forum was created to support the development of Turkish films and create opportunities for co-productions. The forum is co-directed by Armağan Lale and Pınar Evrenosoğlu and ran from October 2-6.

There are 5 categories that can be entered for consideration. Being selected for any of them, provides the opportunity for one-on-one meetings with industry professionals. The categories themselves have a competitive level with funding awards to be won.

This year 27 projects were selected to compete in the 5 categories, with 15 of them receiving funding and support.

Nine projects competed in the “Pitching for Feature Films in Development” platform, juried by Antonio Saura, Selin Vatansever Tezcan and Teresa Hoefert de Turégano. Of the 9 projects, they selected “The Ballad of the Skelton” from director Murat Uğurlu| and producer Büke Akşehirli, and “The Moth” from director Aslı Akdağ and producer Bilal Bağcı for Development Platform Awards. Additionally, Knight Rider 3: Blue Ocean from director Ziya Demirel and producer Anna Maria Aslanoğlu was given the Film Standartları Post Production Award, and 8th Floor from director Tunç Şahin and producers Aslı Filiz & Ersan Çongar was given the Filmarka Equipment Support Award.

Five projects competed in “Features Work-in-Progress” platform. Unlike the development category, this one is for projects that are about to finish shooting or already in post-production. The platform was juried by Anna Hoffmann, Dilek Aydın and Nathalie Jeung. They selected “Dominitory” from director Nehir Tuna and producer Tanay Abbasoğlu & Dorothe Beinemeier for the Features Work-in-Progress Award. Additionally, the Special Jury prize went to “New Dawn Fades” from director Gürcan Keltek and producer Arda Çiltepe, while the Başka Sinema Distribution and Promotion Award went to “Hesitation Wound” from director Selman Nacar and producers Burak Çevik &Diloy Gülün. Finally, Turkish Radio and Televison (TRT) gave their own Features Work-in Progress Award, presented by Faruk Güven, the Head of Cinema at TRT, to “Confrontation” from director Filiz Kuka and producers Seçkin Akyıldız & Filiz Kuka.

In the “Documentaries Work-in Progress” platform, juried by Aurélien Marsais, Charlotte Reekers and Zeynep Güzel “A Simple Place” directed by Etna Özbek and produced by Burak Karamete, and “Elsewhere” directed and produced by Melis Birder with Nesra Gürbüz also producing both won the Documentaries Work-in-Progress Award. “A Simple Place” was also was selected for the Başka Sinema Distribution Award while “Elsewhere” received the Postbıyık Sound Post Production Award. Additionally, “61 Minutes in Trapped Zone” from director Canberk Emre İpek and producers Merve Tohum & Alican Acar was given the Documentary Association of Europe Encouragement Award, while “Hold Still”, directed by Berke Baş and produced by Enis Köstepen was awarded the Film Standartları Color Grading Award.

Of the five projects selected for the “Series / Short Series Pitching” platform juried by Julia Schulte, Leticia Godinho and Yamaç Okur, “Half-Life” from creators Tilbe Cana İnan and Kubilay Kara and producers Yelin McKay was selected for the Netflix Grow Creative Project Development Support. Additionally, “Zek the Flatmate” from creators Erinç Durlanık and Yusuf Onur Aydın, director by Erinç Durlanık and producers Ceren Özkanlı Samlı and Elif Nur Kayalar, received the Color Up Color Grading Award.

The finally category is a new one. A memorial fund in memory of the Turkish actor, Sümer Tilmaç to encourage film making in Antalya. Three projects competed in the “Sümer Tilmaç Antalya Film Support Fund Pitching” platform juried by Deniz Akçay, Uygar Şirin and Zeynep Koray. “Rabid” from writer/director Abdurrahman Öner and Arzu Şenses Öner was selected for the Sümer Tilmaç Antalya Film Support Fund Award.
