Cádiz, an ancient port city in the Andalucia region of southwestern Spain is hosting a festival for professionals of the audiovisual sector and for the public; the South International Series Festival. The South International Series Festival brings together various cultural performances, screenings, and discussions from different parts of the world.
The festival aims to celebrate and promote international television series and provide a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and appreciation of diverse storytelling. Through this festival, organizers hope to bridge cultural gaps, promote mutual understanding, and foster creative exchange among creators, producers, and viewers.
70 new episodes of both fiction and non-fiction series will debut, in addition to announcements about upcoming projects. The public will be able to mingle on the red carpet with the stars of their favorite series and will also be able to take in a parallel program packed with exciting events. To showcasing their work to the business community and the public, many well-known figures from the international audiovisual scene will be in Cadiz. Series have been registered from all four corners of the globe.
La ley del mar (The Law of The Sea) will open the South International Series Festival on Friday, October 6th. The crew, led by Luis Tosar, will debut the series at the Congress Palace of Cadiz, starting a festival that would cover the city’s many neighborhoods with series.
It explores the experience of the fishing boat “Francisco y Catalina” from Santa Pola, which in 2006 was the first European boat to rescue immigrants drifting in Mediterranean waters. It is a story of values, love, and a dash of suspense based on actual events.
It is directed by Alberto Ruiz Rojo, staring Luis Tosar and Blanca Portillo, and was co-written by Victor Pedreira and Tatiana Rodriguez. Rafa Parbus and Flipy served as executive producers.
Entrevías from Spain, produced by Mediaset España and Alea Media, will exclusively debut its third season in Cádiz. Serrines, madera de actor is a comedy that tells the tale of a veteran actor starring Antonio Resines. The series will be hosted in Cádiz by Resines himself, along with his colleagues, Jorge Sanz and Lucía de la Fuente, as well as director Jaime Botella.
In international fiction series, Nolly from the UK and directed by Peter Hoar and produced by Quary Street Productions will be attended in Cádiz. It is a Biographical Drama which explores the rise and fall of “Noele Gordon”, an actress and presenter who became one of the most famous women in the UK that has been performed by brilliant Helena Bonham-Carter.
Money and Blood from France, arrives in Cadiz after passing through the Venice Biennale. The story is based on the 2018 book “D’argent et de sang” by journalist Fabrice Arfi about the massive carbon tax fraud that was termed “The fraud of the century” by French media.
Another series competing in the festival is Monstrous, which was written by Yeon Sang-ho and directed by Jang Kun-jae. It is based on a classic Korean folklore.
The festival will be held From October 6th to 12th . All tickets can be reserved through the festival’s website, at https://southfestival.janto.es/. The physical ticket office will be also in the Palacio de Congresos of the capital of Cadiz from October 3rd.
