Docuseries Competition in South International Series Festival

The South International Series Festival (SISF) is a renowned event that celebrates and showcases international television series. Held from October 6th to 12th in the southwestern region of Spain, Cadiz. SISF brings together television enthusiasts, industry professionals, and talented creators from around the world.

The festival aims to promote cultural exchange, diversity, and appreciation for television series across different genres and languages. It provides a platform for up-and-coming creators to showcase their work and for established series to gain more recognition and international exposure.

One of the highlights of SISF is its diverse selection of series from various countries. From thought-provoking dramas to thrilling crime shows, heartwarming comedies, and gripping sci-fi adventures, docuseries, SISF offers something for every viewer’s taste. In addition to screenings, SISF hosts panel discussions, workshops, and masterclasses conducted by industry experts. These events provide a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with creators, learn about the craft of series production, and gain insights into the global television industry.

The docuseries category of the festival aims to promote the art of non-fiction storytelling through visual mediums. It provides a platform for filmmakers to explore and shed light on a diverse range of topics, including politics, culture, history, environmental issues, and human rights. By focusing on real-life experiences and events, docuseries have the power to educate, inspire, and challenge viewers’ perspectives.

Ten docuseries are scheduled by the Official Non-Fiction Section in Cadiz, Spain, from October 6th to October 12th. These ten docuseries focus on true crime, unusual discoveries, corruption, robberies, or recent history round out the programming of the Official Fiction Section, which will inaugurate the Palacio de Congresos with La Ley del Mar and feature Luis Tosar or Eva Marciel among other well-known faces.

The beginning of the section is Malaya. Operation Secreta uncovers previously unreported information on the Malaya Case, one of the most publicized investigations into political and urban crime in recent years and the largest anti-corruption operation ever conducted in Spain.

Bretón’s La mirada del diablo (Spain, produced by Cibeles productions in collaboration with RTVA) explores the same topic and centers on the shocking murder of two children in Córdoba.

On the occasion of the song’s 30th anniversary, Macarena, produced by Movistar Plus+ and Productions del Barrio in Spain, aims to highlight the significance of the song’s international popularity.

From other corner of the world, United States of America, The Murdochs: empire of influence delves into the media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s legacy.

Los Galindos, another Spanish product, will provide information about five of the most heinous and puzzling crimes in Spain’s dark history that occurred in the 1970s in the Los Galindos farmhouse. In addition, El Enigma Nadiuska, made in Spain, explores the intriguing tale of Nadiuska, the biggest star of the 1970s, who had it all but ultimately faded into obscurity.

Another skillfully made documentary is The Chevaline Killings: Finding the Missing Piece from France, which looks back at a horrendous slaughter that occurred in France in 2012. The Man Who Stole the Scream (UK, produced by Curve Story), a British docuseries created by Asif Kapadia, will also be released in the South International Series Festival.

The South International Film Festival in Cadiz recognizes the impact that docuseries can have on society. As such, it serves as a unique platform for filmmakers to showcase their work, connect with like-minded professionals, and make a lasting impact on both local and global viewers.
