Denys Arcand’s latest film, The Fall of the American Empire, is the continuation of his critique of the American society, but this time, the film is set in Canada and the director criticizes the global economy’s way of dealing with money laundering and embezzlement, a common plague of Canadian’s economy. I had the chance to sit with Arcand where we talked about his approach to working with actors, and his take on money laundering and the image of prostitution in cinema.
