The Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF), now in its 4th edition, has firmly established itself as a leading platform for cinematic excellence, showcasing a diverse range of films and fostering dialogue among filmmakers from across the globe. Taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the festival continues to celebrate the rich storytelling traditions of the Arab world while amplifying voices from Africa, Asia, and beyond.
This year’s edition features a robust lineup of films, workshops, and industry events, furthering its mission to support emerging talent and champion diversity in filmmaking. Among its many highlights, the festival hosted the highly anticipated 7th Women in Cinema Gala, an event dedicated to honoring the achievements of women shaping the film industry both in front of and behind the camera.
Celebrating Women in Cinema
The gala, hosted by acclaimed Tunisian-Egyptian actor and producer Hend Sabri, spotlighted the contributions of female filmmakers, particularly from the Arab World, Africa, and Asia. The event brought together luminaries and industry leaders to celebrate the creative force of women in shaping global cinema.
A welcome address by Jomana Al-Rashid, Chairwoman of the Red Sea Film Foundation, honored seven women directors in competition at the festival:

Hollywood Stars Highlight the Evening
The gala also featured special appearances by Academy Award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and award-winning actor and producer Eva Longoria (Only Murders in the Building). Both stars delivered passionate speeches commending the Red Sea Film Foundation’s commitment to advancing the careers of female filmmakers and fostering a more inclusive film industry.
